Superfood for life-long healthUme, or Japanese plum, has been used in Asia for thousands of years. Ume was an important part of Japanese Samurai warriors’ lifestyle – it is believed they even ate Ume after battle - and the dried pickled Plums, called Umeboshi, are still popular in Japan today.
In the 1920s, Japanese soldiers and sailors were given Ume concentrate. The active compound in Ume is mumefural. Ume also contains Vitamin C and Citric and Malic acids. The juice of whole, unripe, hand-picked Japanese Plums is concentrated to produce 50:1 Ume extract.
